Join us for an engaging professional development workshop designed for out-of-school educators aiming to enrich their summer programming. This session leverages the PBS KIDS series Molly of Denali to introduce hands-on, place-based activities that nurture children's environmental identity. Through interactive experiences, participants will discover how to build their own program by integrating PBS KIDS resources and culturally responsive practices to inspire a deeper connection between children and the natural world.
Participants will:
  • Understand the concept of environmental identity and its significance in child development.
  • Explore and practice activities from Molly of Denali that can be adapted for diverse summer learning environments.
  • Build their own program by incorporating PBS KIDS resources into nature-based programming.
  • Develop a toolkit of engaging, culturally responsive activities to foster environmental stewardship among youth.
