Back Pocket Games & Transitions
Friday June 13, 2025 10:00am - 12:00pm PDT
In this workshop participants will receive guidance on strong transitions and other proactive behavior management techniques to utilize in their day-to-day programming. Additionally, they will learn and facilitate back pocket activities they can take back to their program spaces.
Participants will:
  • Learn effective transition methods and routines to create smoother program experience for youth and staff.
  • Learn to facilitate at least one “go to” back pocket activity to utilize in filling longer transitions and supplementing shorter activities.
  • Build on your existing “tool box” for creating a high quality safe and engaging environment for youth outlined by the SEL PQA.

Exploring Nature with Molly of Denali - Fostering Environmental Identity in Summer Programs
Friday June 13, 2025 10:00am - 12:00pm PDT
Join us for an engaging professional development workshop designed for out-of-school educators aiming to enrich their summer programming. This session leverages the PBS KIDS series Molly of Denali to introduce hands-on, place-based activities that nurture children's environmental identity. Through interactive experiences, participants will discover how to build their own program by integrating PBS KIDS resources and culturally responsive practices to inspire a deeper connection between children and the natural world.
Participants will:
  • Understand the concept of environmental identity and its significance in child development.
  • Explore and practice activities from Molly of Denali that can be adapted for diverse summer learning environments.
  • Build their own program by incorporating PBS KIDS resources into nature-based programming.
  • Develop a toolkit of engaging, culturally responsive activities to foster environmental stewardship among youth.
